Banffy Haus German Shepherds
My name is Dr. Peter L. Banfe. We at Banffy Haus take the experience of the first 8 weeks of a puppy's life as a CRITICAL determinant of a puppy's FUTURE.
It all started for me with my son Peti. As an educator (and son of a Stanford Lecturer), coach and a father I was moved to experiment with different ways to enhance learning. Early on I made Montessori tools, used many computer aided learning tools, exposed my son intensely to music, reading, flash cards, etc at a very early age. I focused quite a bit on math skills with counting boxes, Kumon math and chess (starting at age 7). Peti was reading single words by the age of 1 and reading sentences at 2 years old. His math skills are excellent. He is going into 10th grade and will be studying calculus at the university. His music skills are excellent and he uses them to raise his voice for our Lord Jesus with love and enthusiasm. He is a rated chess player and has played in masters tournaments in Hungary. My 8 year old daughter Aniko is also thriving and is a joyous young lady with a Godly heart. She also has won a number of chess tournaments and has demonstrated excellent promise in music.
Please understand that I am not raising these points to herald my or Peti's or Aniko's abilities, for all comes from God. And the heart is most important. But the point is that focusing early on has a significant impact on future potential. I believe STRONGLY that aptitude AND attitude (temperament) are more significantly affected by nurture (how they are raised) than nature.
I have taken the ideas and philosophy I have gleaned as an educator, with my children, and applied them to every puppy from the bitches we own, breed and whelp here at Banffy Haus Kennels. It is with humility that I even coin the term "Banffy Method", as the approach and techniques which comprise our method are largely drawn from other very expert sources and empirical applications by other more experienced people. But, our approach does place a focus which might be considered unique. For example, all puppies are groomed, massaged, jazz music all day, made gun insensitive, isolated, elevated, stressed, prey stimulated, partially crate trained, monitored, and logged. And programs are modified to fit the individual puppy. There is much more to this method than enumerated here, but this should give the reader an idea. We apply this method in a "holistic" way, not as individual parts, but interconnected parts of a whole. The goal is to give a "head start" to the puppies and help them reach their potential and develop into confident, people oriented, naturally alert, brilliant and breathtakingly beautiful dogs.
THE RESULTS
Our puppies melt into your arms, run to the front of the kennel to people, don't cringe when they hear noise, and have a head start in terms of sensitivity and mental and emotional development and development of the traits characteristic of the German Shepherd breed. They begin their new lives prepared for the human experience, confident, well-adjusted, stable and people friendly.
This experience during these first eight weeks will affect their entire life. Improper development, inadeaquate attention can have tragic consequences for the life of these young pups, forever.
